And you’ll reap even bigger benefits by doing high-intensity intervals—like alternating jogging with sprinting.“High intensity workouts burn more calories per minute than steady state cardio, increasing your oxygen consumption after a workout,” says Goodson. “That causes your metabolism to stay elevated for longer and increases your calorie burn for a few hours.”
Or try resistance training.
You won’t just feel the burn—you’ll end up burning more calories, too. “Weight training contributes to a higher metabolic rate throughout the day compared to cardio,” Goodson says.
